The dynamic duo of the Fitzpatrick brothers
31.08.2023
Also known as Matt and Alex, the Fitzpatrick brothers will be competing this week at the Omega European Masters. While Matt is already a regular at the tournament (winning the title two years in a row in Crans-Montana, in 2017 and 2018), Alex is taking part for the first time this year.
At the age of 24, Alex Fitzpatrick is making his debut as a professional golfer in 2022. This new lifestyle is working out rather well for him, as his recent results confirm. His season includes a first win on the Challenge Tour, second place at the ISPS Handa World Invitational presented by AVIV Clinics, and a joint 14th place at the D+D REAL Czech Masters last week.
His older brother has also noticed this progression:
"I remember a few years ago when I first came on Tour, Alex was still at my golf club, Hallamshire, and members would come up to him all the time and ask how's Matt? Where is Matt? Not 'how are you? How's your game?". It was always questions about me. I totally understand how he feels now, because it's the other way around. Literally, the majority of questions are: how's Alex doing?
Despite this competitive environment, Matt and Alex are very proud of each other and continue to be very supportive of each other. Although the two brothers have very different strengths (Matt is more serious and focused on statistics, while Alex 'goes with the flow'), they both have every chance of winning the Omega European Masters.
